U.S. Highway 62: Berryville to Green Forest – Arkansas

Travel with us as we cruise eastbound along an 8-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 62, connecting two quintessential Ozark communities: Berryville and Green Forest, Arkansas. This short drive is part of a major east-west route across northern Arkansas, but it still carries a small-town charm. From downtown storefronts to rolling farmland, this route gives us a quick but rewarding glimpse into the northern Arkansas landscape.

Our journey begins in Berryville, as we head southeast on Trimble Avenue after exiting a retail parking lot near the town’s northwest edge. Within moments, U.S. 62 curves east onto Eureka Avenue, bringing us closer to the heart of town. This stretch passes through residential neighborhoods and local businesses as we approach downtown. Berryville, the county seat of Carroll County, blends historic charm with everyday life — and you’ll catch glimpses of its compact town square and civic buildings as we pass through. After crossing the intersection with Arkansas Highway 21 north, we continue onto Main Street, where U.S. 62 shifts southeast again. This is the town’s main commercial strip, home to local diners, small shops, and municipal offices.

Leaving the center of Berryville behind, we cross the junction with AR-21 south, marking our departure from the town proper. Almost immediately, the landscape begins to open up. Here, U.S. 62 stretches into open country — a mix of gently rolling farmland and lightly wooded terrain that’s typical of the northern Ozarks. This is classic Carroll County farmland, where cattle pastures, hayfields, and white-painted barns dot the roadside. It’s not the most dramatic scenery in the region, but it’s honest, grounded, and peaceful. Depending on the season, you might spot wildflowers blooming along the shoulders or catch a glimpse of deer grazing near the treelines.

As we approach Green Forest, the highway passes the intersection with AR-103, where we end our video by turning south. Green Forest itself sits just ahead and offers a similar small-town atmosphere to Berryville, with a slightly more agricultural feel. The community is known for poultry farming and regional processing plants — part of the backbone of the area’s economy. While this stretch of U.S. 62 may be short, it plays an important role as a connector between these two towns and their surrounding rural communities.

Whether you’re passing through on a regional road trip or exploring northwest Arkansas more deliberately, this quick drive along U.S. 62 offers a practical yet scenic link between two of Carroll County’s anchors.
