Travel with us as we drive 3.5 miles east along Mississippi Highway 25 — better known to locals as Lakeland Drive — from the capital city of Jackson into the growing suburb of Flowood. This short but significant stretch serves as a key east-west corridor in the Jackson metro area, connecting travelers from I-55 to the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport and points beyond.
We begin our journey at the busy interchange with Interstate 55, just northeast of downtown Jackson. As we merge onto Lakeland Drive, we’re immediately surrounded by a mix of commercial development and institutional landmarks. To the south is the lush expanse of LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, home to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, the Mississippi Children’s Museum, and walking trails along the Pearl River. This section of MS-25 is often bustling, not just with commuters but also families and visitors headed to the park or the museums.
Crossing the Pearl River, we leave behind the City of Jackson and enter the city of Flowood, one of the fastest-growing communities in the region. Flowood has transformed in recent decades from a rural outpost into a thriving suburb packed with retail centers, medical facilities, and dining options. East of the river, you’ll find shopping plazas like Dogwood Festival Market, numerous hotels, and quick access to the airport a few miles down the road via MS-475.
We end this short but important drive at the intersection with Flowood Drive, right in the heart of the city’s commercial district. Whether you’re commuting, catching a flight, or just exploring central Mississippi, this stretch of MS-25 serves as a major connector between city and suburb — with plenty to see along the way.
