Arkansas Highway 10 – Westbound in Little Rock

Drive with us for 14 scenic and urban miles along Arkansas Highway 10 Westbound, one of central Arkansas’s most traveled corridors. Beginning in the heart of downtown Little Rock, this route takes us on a westward journey from the city’s historical and governmental core to the rapidly growing neighborhoods of West Little Rock. Starting at the eastern terminus of AR-10 at Cumberland Street and Interstate 30, we briefly head north through downtown before turning west just shy of the Arkansas River. This stretch kicks off with notable city landmarks like the Museum of Discovery, the River Market District, and the Marriott Hotel, giving travelers a front-row seat to Little Rock’s urban heart.

As we transition onto LeHarpe Boulevard, the cityscape unfolds dramatically. We travel beneath the Little Rock Convention Center and pass under the Broadway Bridge, which carries US-70 over the Arkansas River. Soon after, we cross the Union Pacific Viaduct, leaving the more compact downtown grid behind as LeHarpe becomes Cantrell Road, a name most locals associate with this section of Highway 10. Here, we enter Riverdale, a low-lying corridor of office parks, fitness clubs, and restaurants nestled against the Arkansas River. As we ascend Cantrell Hill, the road curves northwest and we transition into The Heights—one of the city’s oldest and most affluent neighborhoods. This part of the route offers sweeping views of the river valley below and easy access to local shops and eateries along Kavanaugh Boulevard.

Crossing University Avenue, we leave The Heights and enter Midtown, where the landscape begins to shift. Urban businesses give way to wooded neighborhoods and larger residential lots. We pass Mississippi Avenue, another major connector, and begin curving northwest again through the Echo Valley and Robinwood neighborhoods. At the interchange with Interstate 430, we hit a critical junction for north-south travel in west Little Rock. From here, AR-10 presses further into suburbia. Passing Pinnacle Valley Road and Taylor Loop, we enter the fast-growing area commonly referred to as West Little Rock. Here, new developments—both commercial and residential—line the roadway, with upscale subdivisions and shopping centers just off the main drag. We wrap up our drive at the intersection of Chenal Parkway, a major westbound route of its own, marking the western edge of city limits and the end of this Arkansas Highway 10 westbound run.
